Real Time Reporting

If you have a hearing loss and struggle to follow discussions in business, education, employment or medical situations, you may benefit from fully funded  communication support.

Electronic Notetakers work with deaf and hard of hearing people  who are comfortable reading English at  speed.  The notetaker supplies two wireless laptops - one for the operator and one for the client to read from.  A detailed meaning-for-meaning record of all verbal communication is keyed into the operator's machine using shorthand codes to increase typing speed.  Computer software then translates the text into full English on the client's screen, enabling them to follow proceedings in real-time.

The service can be tailored to suit client requirements and includes the following features:

  • Customisable screen layout, including font size and colour
  • Individual speakers identified by name and change in font colour
  • Client can  add in-session reference notes to the transcript
  • Incidental information such as {laughter} or {applause}
  • Inbuilt "chat" facility enabling the client to communicate with notetaker

At conferences the text can be projected onto an overhead screen to enable large audiences to follow proceedings (see below). A transcript of the meeting is also available, and can be edited and forwarded by email or saved to the client's memory stick.
